Defterdar Mehmed Behcet Efendi’ye Sunulan Şiirler Mecmuası (Aemnz 575)

When the divans, one of the most important works of classical Turkish literature, are examined, we come across many poems written with various relations to many people such as sultans, grand viziers, viziers, shaykh al-islam and governors. These poems were written in order to gain the compliments of the person to whom they presented their poems, sometimes to express their expectations, and sometimes to show the power of their art.It is seen that these poems, which we encounter scattered in the divans, were brought together in some journals and compiled on behalf of certain individuals. The journal, which constitutes the subject of this study, is a poetry journal with these features and was prepared in the name of Defterdar Mehmed Behcet Efendi, one of the 18th century statesmen.This journal, which contains poems written for Behcet Efendi, is registered at Folk Library Ali Emiri Manuscripts at number 575. In the work, there are 111 poems written with poetry forms such as stanza, verse, ode, ghazal, mesnevi, terc-i bend and tahmis belonging to 43 poets who lived in the 18th century.In this study, first of all, brief information about Mehmed Behcet Efendi is given and the features of the journal’s form and content are emphasized. Then, some examples of poems in the journal were given and the classification of the poems in the journal was made according to MESTAP.
